Aletsch is the largest glacier in the Alps, located in the Canton of Valais. Like all glaciers today, it is retracting, and most of it will melt down in the not-too-distant future. I wanted to visit the glacier to make photographs for a future project. Luckily, I got a grant from Helge Ax:son Johnsons Foundation to make the trip and get on the glacier. You are not allowed to access the glacier on your own since it's full of crevasses and precarious. Kilian Volken from Bergsteigerzentrum in Fiesch helped me access the glacier, and I made several breathtaking and interesting images.
